He was a great human being. If you didn't know, his real name was Barry Hirsh (although I am not certain of the spelling of his last name).

He will always be remembered as long as there is a Right Minds forum and ex-wives to complain about him. That last was a joke. His ex was gracious enough to be the one who informed us.

Barry chose to be very private about his last days. Nobody knew he was sick. That was obviously the way he wanted it and took great pains to that end.

I have never gotten to know anyone with a greater knowledge of firearms - and I have known some fairly bright people in that regard. Russ seems almost as savvy but Teebone was always up with the latest stuff.

Discussing firearms with Barry was like that scene in John Wick movie where he's in a weapon's shop in Italy ordering from the menu - artistry in workmanship.

"firearms - . . . Russ seems almost as savvy but Teebone . . ." -- No, not hardly. Not in Teebone's class.

LFL,

I was not in his class as to firearm knowledge.  In fact, I sought his advice on two or three firearm purchases.

Tee/Barry and I were close -- or about as close as you can get in this environment.  We communicated regularly outside the forum.

Also included was Bob Mangrum, aka Capt. Scurvey.  I had a grand scheme for us to meet.  I was going to use enough of my vast accumulation of Frequent Flier Miles for the three of us to meet here and spend a few days here drinking and telling lies.  We had a lot of fun talking about it, but it never happened because Bob was so inconsiderate as to up and die before we could do it.  Barry and I were both really pissed at him for doing that.

Barry's last times (months) were not pretty.  He had a couple of medical problems that worked at cross purposes -- couldn't fix one for fear of the other.  He finally succumbed to one of them.

A truly memorable guy.

Take care,
Russ

Along with Russ and LateforLunch also.
I have been a member of this forum for a long time now, but I heard about those 3 long before I joined.

I am certain all of us here miss his advice and whit.
