https://www.cbsnews.com/losangeles/news/los-angeles-entertainment-industry-suffers-continued-losses-over-past-three-years-report-says/ What's hilarious about the attached CBS news article is how it doesn't even mention the effects of the horrifying decline of the conditions in L.A. because of massive explosion of violent crime, much of it fueled by sanctuary city status harboring/attracting untold millions of illegal immigrants and vagrants. Production companies are very pragmatic in the sense that they prefer to do business in locations that are peaceful, secure and low-risk for their activities. Security for (exterior and other non-studio) location shooting has become impossible to guarantee due to the defunding of police departments, astronomical ever-growing criminal violence on the streets, and the inability/unwillingness of public/private security to ensure smooth safe location production. LA County DA George Gascon's pro-crime policies (no bail, catch-and-release, non-enforcement) has as much to do with the general problem as anything else mentioned in the article. But even mentioning this as a factor is forbidden because it is a sensitive political issue for the 'Crats who dominate L.A. city/county government.
