Donahue was a narcissistic anti-conservative-fanatic blinded by his own self-adoration. He was a perfect example of how H-wood generates "celebrities" (like him) with nothing to celebrate. He as so many others believed that by reporting on the meritocracy and interviewing those of high success in it, and who had significance to culture, he himself was an exemplar of that meritocracy. 

Donahue was from all I could detect, nothing more than a trained monkey who thought he was Albert Schweitzer because he was stupid enough to wear a skirt on national T.V. with a straight face. 

His wife Marlo Thomas, who has done some great work with her father's foundation and hospitals, seems normal, so it's difficult to understand how she could have become associated with a vicious, cowardly, feckless little Marxist wuss like Donahue.
