Nothing has been able to move the needle of public opinion - the ongoing EU disasters in that regard have also been noticed by businesses/politicians in the U.S. One of the big reasons countries don't want to join the EU (and nations in it now are angling to follow Britain's example) is the financially crippling, job-killing regulations imposed by the ecoparanoids in their government (emanating from Brussels mostly).
