Inclined to agree (about not trusting). There may be a difference in who writes/administrates the elementary algorithms which control data flow.

FBI (Wray*) testimony to Congressional investigation yesterday (as I understood it) was that data-flow algorithms created/applied by foreign entities pose a greater risk than those held by domestic entities. I don't know enough about the technical issues in directing data-flow to comment intelligently.

Maybe we can get Russ et al with more I.T. knowledge of such things to weigh in. 

* I don't trust Wray at all in regard to whether or not he will render accurate information in his testimony when giving opinions. That's because opinions are not facts, so one cannot be easily charged criminally for misleading/lying in the context of an opinion. But Wray probably is forced to give accurate information in regard to precise questions/answers of factual information not based on his own "opinions", or risk charges for lying to Congress.
