No doubt mom thought she'd hit the lottery when her young son landed a lucrative acting job on a popular T.V. show. She thought wrong. H-Wood (and its adjunct tendrils around the world), being full of/largely dominated at every level by cacogens, is horribly, lethally dangerous - especially to impressionable, naive young people. 

Writer Hunter Thompson said it, "H-Wood (T.V./film industry) is a shallow money-pit, a long plastic hallway where thieves and pimps run free, and good men die like dogs." 

If a bright, normal young person is not horribly unstable emotionally when they arrive in H-Wood, they will be by the time they leave.
