Bush Sends Pagan-atheist Easter Message The Assorted Press April 11, 2004; Washington -- U.S. President George Bush, in a new display of election year devotion to diversity, sent out a special Easter message to American witches, Pantheists, Pagans, and atheists. "Laura and I would like to send out Easter greetings to all our Pagan and atheist friends," the President said in a recorded message. "We couldn't find a decent greeting card that expressed what y'all believe, so I'm just recording this message. I hope you have a good time sitting around the fire, howling at the moon, thanking the "High Ones," and meditating yourself into oak trees. Go easy on the hard stuff, and be careful with the cauldrons while they're still hot. " White House spokesperson, Helen Highwater, said it was the first time a U.S. President had ever sent a Pagan or atheist Easter greeting and added: "I'm betting it will be the last." Note: As a matter of full disclosure, the present CEO of Assorted Press, Fritz Hartmann, is an avowed Pantheist.
