Survey: Journalists A Lot Smarter Than President Bush The Assorted PressBy: Hugh Jarse April 5, 2004 (TAP)—A new poll of major media journalists in the United States reveals that reporters and editors in news organizations are a lot smarter that President Bush and members of his administration. The survey, funded by the liberal organization, “Fostering Unity & Concern” (FUC)*, found that while President Bush, Vice President Cheney and other members of the administration often make mistakes, fail to comprehend the significance of their actions, and leap to decisions without careful forethought, journalists almost never do any of those things. "We were surprised at how wise journalists are compared with members of the Bush administration,” said an unnamed source at FUC. "It's amazing that the men and women who lead our nation ever rose to such positions of responsibility, considering their relative ignorance and incompetence. Perhaps more incredible is that few nations have elected reporters, editors and columnists as chief executives." The FUC organization initiated the study after liberal academic university researchers noticed that reporters and columnists often have better ideas than Conservative politicians, even though they lack access to reliable information and must shape their opinions from hearsay, conjecture, news releases and public statements by people who have self-promoting motivations. *“Fostering Unity & Concern” (FUC), was formed and is supported by The NY Times, the Washington Post, CNN, CBS, NBC, ABC, the Association of American University Faculty Socialists, the Hollywood Front for Socialist Reform, Mr. Issodhos, John Haag and Barbra Streisand.
