Doubts Raised About the Author of the Poem "Trees" The ASSORTED PRESS Oct.16, 2004 (TAP) The poem "Trees", based on her claims, was written by Trudy Keyhole the beloved and popular Assorted Press Internet poster and poet. It has come to TAP's attention that a few spoil sports now claim that this poem was actually written by someone else named Joyce Kilmer. Friends, backers and Trudy's partner said, "Shame on any who doubts that our own Trudy wrote this poem herself." Trudy has told us that her poem is even copyrighted. Supporters of Trudy have come quickly to her defense, note the following examples; "It is terrible that such a beautiful thing has been stolen from her." Don Ho "Trudy does beautiful work. It's a crime to be robbed of what comes from one's heart and soul." D.J. "Whoever says that Trudy appropriated someone else's work is an asshole." O. Contraire Trees By Trudy Keyhole I think that I shall never see A poem lovely as a tree. A tree whose hungry mouth is prest Against the sweet earth's flowing breast; A tree that looks at God all day, And lifts her leafy arms to pray; A tree that may in summer wear A nest of robins in her hair; Upon whose bosom snow has lain; Who intimately lives with rain. Poems are made by fools like me, But only God can make a tree. An unnamed TAP spokesman said, "We don't care who wrote it, it's beautiful." Copied Right, 2004 The Assorted Press NOTE: Joyce Kilmer, 1886-1918 was an infantry soldier and poet who died in action in World War I. Fort Kilmer in New Jersey was named after him. Fritz |
