The Patriot Forum Gears Were Installed Backward By The Assorted Press March 23, 2004, Somewhere in Indianapolis (TAP) -- To prevent another catastrophic forum breakdown, Orville "Doc" Carney will replace enabling mechanisms in the main forum after discovering some of the gears were installed backward. Owner and administrator of The Masters Political Forum, now the Patriot Forum, since April 1996, Doc Carney said he has launched an investigation into "why we are once again mysteriously out of server resources, and who the hell was responsible for installing the gears backwards." Recently Carney had asked forum posters to, "Please disregard my post of last week, wherein I expressed confidence that we were unlikely to suffer any further disturbance." The newly renamed Masters Forum, an exclusive "members only" forum with discipline loving and strict censorship rule enforcing moderators is well known for its political influence in Washington and on the Internet. Carney said he has launched an investigation into why the forum speed brake gears -- all old original parts in the forum -- were never inspected since April 1996 when the Patriot forum was built. Mr. Carney pointed out that the forum is like the NASA Shuttle, "if one of the improperly installed gears is in a high-stress position, it will lead to the crash of the forum. Bottom line is, it was not good," Carney said. Some present and former posters have noted that the Patriot forum also uses a system of grim, whip-cracking moderators to keep posters in line, a system that some say has led to the moderators becoming infatuated with their own power and self-importance. Both Orville "Doc" Carney and his chief of staff, Mr. D'artagnon now say that disgruntled ex-posters unhappy with the leftward tilt of the forum are not responsible for the reversed gears and other problems found recently in the forum. All the gears in the forum's inventory -- dating back to 1996 -- are being X-rayed to see whether they were properly built, and to look for signs of leftward tilting. Carney said new and nonpartisan gears should be installed in time for the forum to resume functioning on an even keel as soon as possible. Editorial Note:Concerning the recent Patriot forum name change to The Masters Forum and the new membership "by invitation only" rule, one is reminded of the Groucho Marx note to his country club; "Please accept my resignation. I don't care to belong to any club that would accept me as a member." Assorted Press Internet reporter, Norman Clature contributed to this article.
